Geoff Busby MBE, BCS Disability Group

Geoff Busby MBE works with the BCS Disability Group. He highlights how 20:20 broadened his view

Right from the outset, however, it was apparent that, although all the delegates were highly intellectual, holding senior positions, we were a diverse group.

"Having graduated from the Common Purpose 20:20 course last year (1999), I am able to reflect on what was a highly stimulating week.

I am a severely impaired person and have to confess to being a tiny bit anxious before the week began. Right from the outset, however, it was apparent that, although all the delegates were highly intellectual, holding senior positions, we were a diverse group. I believe that this and the ability to attract national and international leading speakers from all sectors of society, are the main attributes of Common Purpose and 20:20.

My continuing thoughts on the week are that it assisted me in putting my life into perspective and being just a little more aware of what life could be like in 2020.

Whether my predictions will come to fruition depends a great deal on people like myself and other delegates, who have been awakened to the social and economic trends and how we as individuals can affect them. I certainly intend to stay in contact with Common Purpose as a vehicle of intellectual stimulation."
