About Time
A targeted campaign seeking to encourage and support talent from diverse communities to take on non-executive opportunities on public boards.
About Time
About Time is a Common Purpose campaign to encourage and support leaders from diverse black and minority ethnic communities to take on leadership roles in public life.
It is vital for the future of British society that talented people from a wide range of backgrounds are represented in key leadership positions on public bodies to reflect the diversity of our society. It is important that public bodies understand the needs of the communities they serve.
About you…
We are targeting people from these diverse communities to be part of a wave of leaders that can help shape the future! About Time is keen to encourage and support them, and give them the opportunity to get straight into the heart of communities across diverse fields – health, education, criminal justice system or the environment and more…
Senior leaders - chairs and board members of various public bodies in key decision-making roles - will support them through a combination of mentoring and shadowing opportunities. Support will be ongoing throughout the application process and will continue after positions are taken up. The aim of the campaign is to identify and create a large ‘diverse talent pool’ of leaders who can take up senior positions.
About Common Purpose…
Since 1989 Common Purpose has run the UK’s most diverse leadership development programmes, bringing together leaders of different ages, backgrounds and sectors. One of the aims of the organisation is to encourage more diverse leaders to play an active part in civil society.
A vast number of public bodies and charities, including government departments, are seeking new and more diverse leaders on their boards and committees. Common Purpose’s network of over 100,000 leaders can help shape the future of UK society.
About Time will act as the conduit to match talented and suitable candidates to various board positions and provide ongoing support.
