What's so special about Common Purpose's programmes?

People who have been on a Common Purpose programme are vocal in their praise for its benefits. Why? There are a host of different reasons why Common Purpose programmes are unlike any other. Here are just a few:

  • All of our programmes bring together a diverse, cross-sector group of people. Common Purpose is one of the only organisations in the world that requires all its activities to be cross-sector. Participants frequently comment that interaction with fellow participants is one of the most exciting aspects of programmes.

  • All Common Purpose programmes are designed to expand the vision, decision-making ability and influence of all kinds of leaders - enabling leading beyond authority. Common Purpose alumni think bigger, network more effectively and stand out as leaders not only within but also outside their organisations.

  • The curriculum is designed specifically to give participants an understanding of the bigger picture within which they operate. Participants are encouraged to recognise that they are leaders both in their organisations and in the community.

  • Activities take participants outside the conference room and into the community, allowing them to get behind the scenes and beneath the surface of current key issues in the area. Together they tackle live issues with the people who carry real-life responsibility for them.

  • All programmes operate under Chatham House Rule - information is given "off the record" and cannot be attributed to the speaker - which means participants are much more likely to hear how things really are.

  • A full-time Curriculum Director researches data, trends and developments which may impact on participants and their organisations. Unlike other programmes, which are recycled year after year, the integration of current information into Common Purpose's programmes guarantees their relevance and timeliness.
