The UK’s leading trainers
When it comes to training in Europe, the UK is ahead of the game, according to a new survey.
The study conducted by Europe’s largest training provider, Cegos Group, found that UK organisations train more staff and take on more innovative training practices than other countries in the EU.
Cegos found that over half – 55% – of the UK’s employees currently participate in 100% e-learning based training, with 51% taking part in blended learning courses.
Spain came in just behind the UK in terms of e-learning and blended learning techniques, with 51% of Spanish companies adopting e-leaning and blended learning.
Cegos pointed to time and budget pressures as factors motivating the UK’s development.
The survey also revealed that the training function in the UK was more focused on assessing the effectiveness and return on investments in training.
Other countries that participated in the survey of over 1,000 companies employing over 500 members of staff were France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
The survey found the average European company in 2007 spent €580,000 (£459,960) on professional development.
French companies spent the most, contributing nearly three times more than UK corporations.
