Leadership courses for the Libyan Community in the UK

Common Purpose is piloting courses for Libyans in the UK to help those leaders to play effective roles in the reconstruction and re-development of Libya.

Libya Community

Common Purpose is piloting a course for Libyans in the UK who remain deeply connected to the country, and want to make an effective contribution to Libya even if from afar.

To do this they will need a real understanding of what is happening in Libya now, of how society works and how Libyan leaders abroad make things happen. These courses will help those leaders to play effective roles in the reconstruction and re-development of Libya.

Frontrunner_3

"Abandon your perceptions about how society is put together, and understand that nobody is at the steering wheel. Then join Common Purpose to learn how it works, and how to steer."

Richard Lyon, Business Advisor, BP

What happens on the course?

Courses aim to equip Libyans living in the UK to contribute to reconstruction and development in Libya and will:

  • Examine the key development and reconstruction issues currently facing the country
  • Help the participants to gain a perspective on the pressing needs of cities and communities in Libya
  • Explore the role and contribution of the Libyan community living in the UK
  • Help participants to build partnerships across the UK Libyan community and with organisations in Libya.
  • Learn from a range of speakers and contributors who have knowledge, either of the Libyan context, or of the issues that the country currently faces.

"[The emphasis is about] listening to other opinions that might be different from yours, having discussions, finding common ground and exploring skills that you didn't know you had."
