A challenging leadership development course for leaders whose sphere of responsibility is expanding to a national or international level.

What is 20:20?

20:20 has two central themes - wealth creation and governance - which are explored through briefings from top business people, media, lobby groups, politicians, civil servants, economists and scientists, participants assess key economic, political, technological and social trends. Participants examine how governments operate and the realities of policy-making in the UK and Europe.

This forms the backdrop for participants to investigate how leaders deal with constantly changing situations that they cannot begin to control, stakeholders who are going in different directions, partners and systems they do not understand and timescales - far shorter or far longer - than they would like. In peer groups they examine their own biases and discuss how leaders maintain balance. Participants get a practical understanding of how to deliver complex change.

20:20 course participants will:

  • gain a deeper understanding of how the UK works locally, regionally, nationally and internationally and how these factors interconnect - or don't.
  • evaluate how decisions are made and influenced and assess the trends on the near and far horizon.
  • start developing wider networks to sustain a broader outlook.
  • evaluate their organisation's strategy, generate new ideas and assess existing links with stakeholders.
  • learn and practice the skills of leading collaborations, when required, so that complex problems get addressed and sustainable solutions are found.
  • assess their own preferences and biases and how they get in the way of their leadership.
  • raise their own game as senior leaders.

What is the course format?

20:20 is a demanding and highly participative four day residential course. Participants spend one of the days in London as they examine how the capital works within the context of Euope.

The course themes are explored with speakers and use briefings, case studies, debate, scenario exercises, team-based tasks, structured reflection time and individual strategy and workplan development.

Where is 20:20 held?

Participants are based in a residential venue in London. The 20:20 week includes a day in Whitehall and the City of London visiting key institutions in the cities.
